What has driven you to create your own brand? What inspired you the most?
Since I can remember myself, I had a natural love for perfumes. I started collecting them in an effort to captivate my memories and I always thought of them as my little treasures. In 2014, I decided to create my signature perfume and together with a perfumer we created Sillage Royal. It took more than nine months to complete and when I started wearing it, people would constantly stop and ask me about it. It was at that moment that I thought of starting my own luxury perfume brand.
What do you think are the pros and the cons to have your own brand?
Starting your own brand means investing in yourself and your ideas, taking a risk. I like to challenge myself; I think it makes life more interesting. There are countless difficulties to overcome, but if you trust in yourself and your product, it will all fall into place eventually.
What do you think differentiates Manos Gerakinis Parfums from others fragrances?
I started creating fragrances in order to express myself in a distinct way. Quality and longevity are very important to me for the above reasons. My scented journey started while trying to impress myself and thus we used the most exquisite and unique raw materials. Silver, gold, agarwood, roses, labdanum and jasmine to name a few of the rare ingredients we use to indulge the wearer into a scent-sational experience.
Based on your business journey, could you define yourself a Rebel in any sense?
To my understanding being a rebel means to lead life in your own way, and in that sense I am a rebel.
Following a successful career in luxury management, I gave it all up to focus on my own dream. I moved back to Greece and started working hard from scratch to build my own brand. I am the perfume editor of every single perfume, I work with the top perfumers in the industry and chose to express myself with one of the most intriguing products: perfume. Perfumery is rebellious; it is the only sense that can lift one’s spirit up in a few seconds, elicit memories from visited places, from the past and from loved ones.
If you could re-launch your brand from scratch, would you change anything?
I wouldn’t change anything. Life is a learning procedure and we learn from the good and the difficult. The brand is evolving just like all of us. It is a scented journey after all with various stops and that’s what make it even more interesting to follow.
